Barafundle Playroom is the first step of your child’s educational journey in a caring, loving, and calm environment. The playroom is filled with age-appropriate toys to help your babies grow and develop in their wake windows. We follow your home routines as closely as possible to ensure a smooth and comforting transition into nursery life where their routines coincide with what they are used to at home with main caregivers. 

Developmental records and daily observations are passed from children’s key workers to their parents/carers for each child.  Children participate in a wide range of child led stimulating activities which match individual needs, encourage holistic play and provide a variety of experiences.

We use British Sign Language throughout the day to help the children express their wants and needs before they can verbalise. We also promote the PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) programme, which is a social and emotional learning program that helps children develop skills for making positive choices and helps all children to recognise basic emotions and support their emotional development. 

We have consistent staff within the room, to include Phoebe our playroom Supervisor and our playroom practitioners who all work in unison to ensure a safe and stable transition for not only the children but the families too! Each baby’s admission is sensitively managed so that parents and carers and children become familiar with the new surroundings and are able to form good relationships with the staff.

We encourage regular collaboration between parents and carers and staff, so that mutual respect, trust, understanding and sharing is built into an effective partnership.

Our Barafundle Playroom offers children a high standard of care. Children have opportunities to enjoy music, creative arts, sensory play, stories and lots more!

Barafundle has easy accessibility to the garden, with a door leading straight out to the outdoor area.  There is a sink and miniature kitchen provided near the outdoor play entrance to maintain high standards of hygiene. One wall of this playroom shows scenes from Barafundle, in an ‘Under the Sea’, theme. The flooring of this room is comprised of carpet and non-slip flooring in the wet or messy play area.
