Woodlands Playroom

Our Woodland Playroom specialises in the care of children aged less than two years. Our Playroom offers children fantastic opportunities for play. Children enjoy outside play, creative arts, sensory play, stories, role play and baking. Each morning the children sing using various musical instruments. One wall of this room shows scenes from Canaston Woods, and the flooring of this room is comprised of carpet and non-slip flooring in the wet or messy play area. The room has easily accessibility to outdoor play, with a door leading straight outside.

We welcome children into the nursery environment with settling in sessions with you and their key person to allow an easy transition. Developmental records and daily observations are passed from children’s key workers to their parents for each child. These contribute to planning a wide range of stimulating activities which match individual needs, encourage heuristic play and provide a variety of experiences. Growing physical skills means that children need active times for exercise, and quieter times for relaxing activities with space for exploring an exciting outside environment or feeling different materials from one of our sensory baskets.

The room includes the following areas, with a marked out pathway between the areas to enable children the opportunity to choose their play activities at certain times during their day at Golden Manor.

It includes:

  • Role Play Area (e.g. puppets and role play)
  • Creative Arts Area e.g. painting, sand, easel etc
  • Construction Area
  • Developmental Play
  • Activity Area
  • Music Area
  • Sleeping Room, with a night ceiling displaying lights illuminated as stars in a night sky
